Chelsea in the hunt to sign No.10 Premier League playmaker

Chelsea are the front-runners for Alexis Mac Allister, with Arsenal and Atletico Madrid also in the battle. Argentina international could move if Brighton agree to sell him in winter. The 24-year-old playmaker proved his worth with a few accomplished performances for Argentina on their way to winning the World Cup in Qatar.

The Argentine playmaker was one of the standout performers for the champions, scoring once and assisting another. The assist came in the final, as he set up Angel Di Maria for his strike. The South American attacker earned his call-up to Argentina after consistent displays with the Seagulls in the last 18 months.

The Argentine developed into a strong performer under former manager Graham Potter and has continued his form with new coach Robert De Zerbi. Those displays in Qatar have drastically increased the interest of top teams in Mac Allister.

Arsenal, Man United and Tottenham have showed they were keen to recruit him in winter. Alexis just signed a new contract with Brighton in October, putting the Seagulls in a strong position. The Seagulls may not intend to sell the 24-year-old playmaker in January, but their stance might change in the summer.

The London giants are chasing several targets in the window and may see the wisdom in adding a top star like the 24-year-old World Cup winner. Graham Potter may see the value in bringing Mac Allister and tightening the grip on a loose midfield at Chelsea.
